Build's wrapping paper for the design museum
Build's wrapping paper for the design museum shop.
Taken from Build's website,
"As part of our ongoing quest for items exclusive to the shop, we have commissioned graphic design studio Build to design & produce a range of shop-wares based on our chirpy shop bird! In line with our philosophy to keep our environmental impact to a minimum, items are made using sustainable & recycled materials wherever possible, and all are manufactured in the UK".
The Durutti Column

randomly distorted images.

Apeloig - The Poster
I was initially inspired to create my own folded letter forms by Philippe Apeloig's 'the poster'. I have always admired his work and wanted to create things inspired by his typographic work.

Mish Mash Signage
I stumbled across this nifty bit signage down a narrow street in London. Over the summer I was working on a typeface that appeared to look tall which I incorporated into one of the designs for the Arjowiggins brief.
Key ring things from Urban Outfitters
While window shopping I came across a set of key ring things in Urban Outfitters. The letterforms on the front of the key rings were similar to the letterforms I was working on at the time.

Mbombela Stadium
The new Mbombela Stadium is one of the stadiums going to be used at the world cup in South Africa 2010 that has been built near Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga province. I am currently working on a typeface based on the unusual place, the zoo. I want the typeface to have the visual look/nature of a zebras stripes.
Paperchase Research
I wanted to get a feel of the kind of designs on cards, gift wrap ect that are on sale in Paperchase. I was looking for a better understanding on the use of colour, type and layout.
Wrapping paper by Emigre
You can buy wrapping paper by Emigre directly from their webiste for around $12. The wrapping paper comes in a set of 6 sheets; two sheets of three different designs. The wrapping paper designs are composed from a set of Puzzler fonts created by Emigre.
I will take inspiration from the way Emigre have used a one colour design. I like the simplicity of the designs and the way there is more colour than white.

Graphic Design For The 21st Century
I have taken design related quotes directly from 'Graphic Design For The 21st Century'. I intend to use a quote on each of the paper samples I am using to promote Arjowiggins paper company.
